I have a 12 year old!

Annie turned 12 on Sunday.  I can't believe she is so old, which in turn makes me so old.  Annie was a good sport about having her birthday on a Sunday.  Since it was Stake Conference also, she was able to have her cousin Olivia spend the night on Saturday.  Sunday morning she had Mickey Mouse waffles, bacon, orange juice and toast.  Her big gift from Howard and me was a locking cabinet.  Annie has had her stuff destroyed ever since she was 4.  We figured it was high time to put a stop to it.  The downside?  Its on casters.  Adam can't get into it, so he wheels the whole thing out of her room.  To do-take off the casters.

Katie and Bryce and their little man Spencer came in the evening.  They arrived just as Howard came home with some candles and matches.  Not from the store, but from my brother's.  We are lame-o and forgot to get some.  Good thing we have family nearby.  We sang to Annie, she opened some cards and then we stayed up playing Bananagrams, Tri-cross and Clue. Hopefully she had a decent birthday.  One never knows with a preteen.  One minute they are having a conversation with you, the next minute they hate you and you are the worst parent ever.  Time will tell.
