Remodel

This summer, while adding rock to our path behind the house, Howard and I asked ourselves, "Would  it be feasible to add on to our house, so we don't have to move into a bigger house?" Well, we found a contractor, and an architect, and by the end of August, we were on our way to a 4th bedroom and a bigger master bedroom.

We had to take out all of the rock we had just put in.  Emma didn't really wear that to work in.  She and Annie were messing around, and this is my only "before" picture.
Once the concrete slab was poured, it was a stage where much silliness was played out.
The first framing went up in one day
Then we decided to add a sidewalk around the addition

And since it was our sidewalk, we wrote our names in it.
Then the roof and siding.  It was all very exciting.

Looking in thru the window of Annie and Emma's new room.
The new hallway leading to Annie and Emma's room.  Love the Frankenstein drywall.
Finally, some drywall in the master bedroom.
Another view from inside the room.
The girls closet. It's actually pretty big.  It's the biggest closet of all the kids rooms.
We did the painting ourselves.  Emma picked the color.  It's called Aqua Chintz. Once the carpet was in and we passed final inspection, the girls moved in right away. It has since been totally teen-ified, with posters and other cool stuff. It is also filled with clothes and other messes, so no pictures at this time.

Our room took a little longer, but it's at a point where we are happy with it.

We have actual walking space in front of our bed now.
We think a cozy chair would look great where that floor cushion is.  We just haven't found the one of our dreams.
We painted our bed and side tables, I reclaimed the two beach pillows I made when the girls room was beach themed.

We are totally loving all the new space.  We also have a sweet walk-in closet, but it is currently the hiding place for Christmas gifts, so no pics right now.

We have plans for wall art, but, well, life with 5 kids, homeschool and the holiday season is happening.  This is the most we have ever done with master bedroom decor, so I am pretty happy with it.

Oooo, the white looks so sharp against that bright blue, I really like it. And that red Coca Cola crate, and lots of other things that you've added, which I would mention, but then I would sound like a crazy stalker, and today I want to just sound like a supportive friend. Thanks for posting, I'm glad you gave into peer pressure and humored me.

I don't know if you can see it, but on the table next to the bed is my awesome breathing machine. I got that during the remodel, so not only did Howard get a nicer bedroom, but he gets to sleep in it with no snoring from me!
