New for this week

Emma finished her spelling/vocabulary curriculum on Thursday!  She had a love/hate relationship with it.  She loved taking the spelling tests and getting prizes for every 4 100% tests.  She liked taking the tests aloud, like a spelling bee.  She hated the comprehension section.  With a passion.  Many pages with the comprehension questions sport big pencil X's that have been half-heartedly erased.  That being said, she is finished.  She mourned for about 5 minutes, then chose a new book to take spelling words from.  I am so proud of her.

This isn't new for this week, but Annie finished 6th grade math.  She truly hated saxon math. She chose Life of Fred for her new math.  She loves it.  It is pretty funny, and in story form.  It has several main characters and the problems come from their interactions.  She has asked if she could do more than one lesson a day.  Oh, and she is now working on Beginning Algebra.

You should check out All About Spelling. That's what we are using this year and I love it. It's really as much a reading program as it is a spelling program. Keep up the good work!
