Home schooling the kids leads to some insights into their personalities I might not normally get. For instance, correcting science tests has lead us to discover that Annie is sarcastic and pretty funny. On one test where she was asked to classify a plant and list its characteristics, her answer was, "This is an open-book test. Look on page xxx and you will find the plant, along with its characteristics, thank you." On another test she was asked what she did that morning and what chemical changes took place in her routine. Her answer, "I went to the bathroom and don't even want to know what chemical changes occurred." On yet another test, a question arose about how to use a new chemical cleaning product. Her answer, "Read the directions on the bottle" So simple and so correct. What a clever kid.

Emma is learning about the Ancient Greeks and is horrified that they didn't wear clothes to exercise. She brings it up every lesson. "How come they didn't wear clothes mom?" "Didn't they know other people could see them?" Ahh, the innocence of children. She does think their chariots were "really cool." She is grossed out by a pottery painting of a woman washing her hair with wine. Who would have thought that the kid who ran around naked for two years and revels in dirt could have such strong feelings?
