Washer madness

We bought a new fancy washing machine on Thursday night, available for pick up on Monday. A lovely HE machine with no agitator. Which we can't afford, but darn it, we need a washer. Friday I decided that the diapers couldn't go another day without washing. Guess what, the old one worked perfectly. Then, 8 loads later, on Saturday, it started leaking again. Ugh

Howard was off working. I turned off the water supply. Then I started it up again to see where the water was coming from. Annie spotted the leak/gush, thanks Annie. Turns out the water level sensor is kaput. Howard came home and decided he could fix it. He ordered the part, it should be ready Monday. Then he plugged the machine back in. Sadly, he forgot to reconnect the wires first so he blew the breaker. Somehow he avoided death, as he was in standing water at the time. Off to Home Depot again for a new breaker.

The machine is back together with the broken sensor. It will wash if you don't use the super setting. You also need to stand next to it the whole cycle to manually turn the knob in case it starts to flood again.

The new machine has been cancelled and our money refunded. Whew.

The funny part of this, at least to me: When we were working on it, Howard asked me what color the wash was the last time it flooded. I told him dark, which happened to be the color of the current laundry. His response, " The Dark Side must be broken" I don't know if its stress or what but I was laughing for a full five minutes.

I'm glad you were able to diagnose the problem and find a way to keep the ol' thing going! I know how disheartening it can be to have water coming out of the washer instead of staying in! Sounds like a happy ending though.
