What we've been up to

For the 4th we went to 4 mile historic park. There was all sorts of stuff to do. There were crafts, music, food, demonstrations, quilting, houses to tour and a stagecoach. There was even a reading of the Declaration of Independence. This is Annie learning to spin. Its harder than it looks.

We looked at a Civil War encampment. We are glad we don't sleep in tents like this. We also saw a cannon go off. It was much louder than we thought. And very cool. We also saw some rifles and bayonets.

Annie and Emma getting some perspective on the size of the rifles with bayonets. Those bayonets were wicked. I'd hate to be on the receiving end of those.

Sarah and Emma share a rare nice sister moment in the wagon.

We were able to ride in this very bumpy stage coach. We were really packed in. Turns out that historic 4 mile used to be a stagecoach stop back in the day, 4 miles from Denver or something like that. We appreciate our modern ride so much more now.

The girls were able to try their hands at home making skills.

Annie practices with the washboard.

Emma works on weaving

Lest you think Sarah was left out, she did all the drinking. Or so it would appear. Really she is tring to get the cork out of her home made rootbeer. She was walking along like this, kind of staggering and it was pretty funny.
This is a vid of Sarah panning for gold and showing some crack!
All in all it was a very fun day, a great way to celebrate Independence Day. We have a membership so I am certain we will be back.

Very historical of you (one of the best possible things in my book).
